Want better Last.fm <-> Amarok sync? Let's tell them!

Heya folk,
I need your help. Amarok has been able to sync personal metadata like play count, rating, labels with your library on Last.fm since version 2.7. Unfortunately one of the most valuable piece of information, last played time (and also first played time) still cannot be synced due to minor omission in Last.fm Web Service API.

Yesterday I've seen third user requesting this feature. That was enough for me. Let them hear our needs! Please vote on the API suggestion I've submitted to provide last played time. No registration needed, just pick your nick. You can also vote on an existing suggestion to also provide first played time.

If there is enough of us, the chances are high that Last.fm will implement these suggestions and I'll be able to make statistics synchronization with Last.fm even more useful in Amarok 2.9.

  1. What about GNU FM like at libre.fm actually? I would be much more interested in synchonising such data with such a service.

  2. Recent convert to Amarok from Banshee. Was sort of bitching about this in the IRC channel on Freenode, it would be great if Amarok would expose and display the stats for date added/first played in the UI. There's currently no mention of it anywhere, even though the data is stored somewherein the db and I could do a keyword search with "added". I've been using these stats before most folks knew what MP3s were to tune what I offload onto my mobile media players. It would be grand to be able to use this information again without it being all in the dark.

  3. Are you going to request other missing APIs like track play count per album if this requests succeede?

  4. No, Amarok doesn't need/use play count per album and getting it through track play count it trivial.

  5. Yeah, making date added/first played fields more visible would be a valid feature request.

  6. Hi, Amarok is an open-source meritocracy, everybody contributes what he or she is interested in. You are very welcome to contribute libre.fm support. (although it seems that they don't offer API suitable for synchronization at the moment)

  7. I am asked for a Google account on the page with the API suggestion.
